A few weeks ago, my shoulder was aching! I tried the usual fixes: stretching, medicating, changing sleeping positions. It wasn’t until I went to my massage therapist that I starting thinking about the real cause of the pain, rather than how to simply control it until it happened again. When I told her about what was happening, she asked what I was carrying around that was creating such a strain.
Hmmm, up until then, I assumed my workout was the culprit – I was lifting too much or moving my muscles incorrectly. But, something I was carrying with me? I guess it could be my purse or my laptop bag. Or, it could be the 30 pounds worth of stuff that I’m carrying in those bags!
When I actually started cleaning out my baggage, here’s what I found:
1 Make-up Bag:
2 Lipsticks
1 Lipgloss
3 Powders
1 Moisturizer
2 Lotions
2 Eyeshadows
1 Brush
1 Hairspray (which I don’t even use, but it provides a good thing for me to wrap my rubberbands around)
5 Pens (different colors, part of a system to keep myself more organized … which is not really working)
1 Massive Franklin Covey Planner
1 External Hard Drive
1 Heavy Wallet (would love to say it’s heavy because of cash, but, no)
1 Business Card Holder
1 Set of Keys
1 5-Subject Notebook
1 biz-e-chicks Resources Binder
Oh brother! Add to all of these items the unseen, but equally heavy burden of stress involved with owning a business and, ladies, meet my aching shoulder. I’m throwing in the towel, no, make that the bag. I’m throwing in the bag and must scale down or find a better way to transport everything.
How do the rest of our peeps do it? What are you packin’ in your bags and what are you leaving behind? We’re thinking of having each of our peeps open her bags to show us what’s inside. What do you think? Are you willing to share your bag of goodies with the girls?
